Hear the Queer, Appear
Hear the Queer, Appear is a series of pop-up promenade walks through Cork City, taking place this summer. *
Participants carry illuminated orb lights that play the voices of 16 Cork-based LGBTQI+ people who responded to the question: What do you wish the wider public better understood about your experience or identity?
The orbs react live to each voice, glowing and flickering with rainbow colours in response to pitch and volume.
As the promenade moves through the city, passers-by may stop to listen in full or encounter fragments of these recordings in passing.
*Promenade routes will not be announced publicly in advance; we appear and disappear from public space organically.
