Register B: Hear the Queer Appear is a series of pop-up promenade walks through Cork City, taking place this summer. More.

During each walk, a group of participants carry illuminated orb lights through the city streets in the evening, transmitting the voices of 16 Cork-based LGBTQI+ people.

Promenade routes will not be announced publicly in advance; we appear and disappear from public space organically. Click HERE for further information.

About the Project

Hear the Queer Appear is a participatory art project by and for the LGBTQI+ community of Cork City and explores new ways to represent and celebrate the diversity of LGBTQI+ identities in Cork.

The project unfolds across Spring and Summer of 2026, across three interconnected art registers:

A. Here the Queer Appear - 3 public light installation

B. Hear the Queer, Appear - 6 audio-and-light city promenades

C. The Queer Appear, Here - a collaborative live theatrical circus performance finale.

The project offers multiple ways to take part, allowing individuals to choose how they are represented in public space. Hear the Queer Appear invites audiences to encounter queer presence in the city as vibrant, poetic, and essential to civic life.
